What is Celestian
Celestian is a web-based IoT platform. Devices (sensors, gateways, controllers) send data over MQTT. Celestian receives it, runs the rules you build, stores the results, and shows them as tables, charts, maps, alarms, and reports.
The platform is not specific to one industry. The examples in this documentation use a cold storage facility (temperature, humidity, electric power, door sensors), but the same patterns apply to factories, buildings, energy facilities, agriculture, and vehicle fleets.

Key features
Section titled “Key features”- Multi-tenant. All data lives inside a workspace. One account can belong to many workspaces with a different role in each.
- Messages are stored only through rules. There is no automatic storage. You decide what is stored, where, and in what format. See Data flow.
- Layered permissions. Roles, permission blocks, per-object and per-tag permissions, direct policies, and inheritance through groups. The rule is deny by default, and
denyalways beatsallow. - Flexible payload formats. SenML, SenFlat (v1 and v2, compact for devices and gateways), and free-form JSON.
- Available in Indonesian and English. Switch the language from the top bar of the application.
